On Saturday morning, Colton called me with a story about a photographer who cancelled and a Lake Kiowa proposal that was supposed to be happening in just a few hours. It was destiny because my schedule was unexpectedly open. There’s nothing I love better than a proposal in my favorite little lake town!
When I arrived at the Lake Kiowa Pavillion, Colton, his sister, and brother were busy setting up. His mom, the genius behind Curly Willow Botanicals, had created stunning florals for a romantic, wild-flower inspired backdrop. (Sidenote: As a mama of my own pack of boys, this was such a sentimental thing for me to see. I love that his mom got to do something so perfect for her son to propose to the love of his life!)
The Lake Kiowa Pavillion is set up for weddings and events with a beautiful view of the lake, and the overlook was the perfect spot for Colton’s to propose. Before long, some friends and Elizabeth’s siblings had also arrived. It was so much fun. They hype was running high, and everyone was speculating about whether Elizabeth had any suspicions.
Elizabeth had stayed with a friend in Lake Kiowa and was enjoying her morning, completely unaware of all the magic that was happening around her. When we heard Elizabeth was on her way (under the guise of getting lunch at the Lodge), everyone made a mad dash (literally) to their cars to quickly leave so Elizabeth wouldn’t see their cars.
Colton was waiting at the overlook, and as soon as Elizabeth saw him she practically ran over to him. Within a matter of seconds, Colton was on one knee asking his BRIDE-TO-BE to marry him. No surprise here: she said YES! After they had some time to celebrate the moment, we were able to do take a few photos of North Texas’s most newly engaged couple!
Elizabeth and Colton, I’m so excited for you both! May your marriage be full of laughter and joy!
