I cannot believe it’s been an entire year since I had the privilege of photographing Kate and Travis’s Palo Duro wedding! It was truly such a fun day. When we left that night, Sean and I talked about how much we loved getting to know Kate and Travis and also their families. After spending an entire day with our couples, their friends, and family, we usually leave feeling like we are part of the crew. It is a privilege we don’t take lightly!
One of my favorite moments was seeing Kate, radiant in her wedding dress, sitting in this incredible antique chair, a family heirloom which Travis used when he proposed to her. All the heart eyes!
While I usually take lots of time talking about the couple during a blog, I want to pause here and talk about Kate and Travis as people and their depth of character. During this wedding day, I was reminded twice that the quality of your friendships often speaks to what kind of person you are. Travis’s best man told me this was one of the best day’s of his life. He said he really meant it; seeing Travis this happy truly made this such a great day for him. That kind of loyalty and joy in another’s happiness speaks to who Travis is. In a similar moment, Kate and her maid of honor were taking a photo together and I asked how long they had been friends. They said it had been since (I think) middle school, and I made a comment about how much it says about a person to have long-term, sustaining friendships. They both teared up, and I remember thinking that this was the kind of friendships that I hope Rowan has on her wedding day.
Kate and Travis love the outdoors (Travis is a champ fisherman, you should follow him for tips!), and their outdoor wedding at the Palo Duro Club reflected that. They said their vows surrounded by friends, trees, a creek, and gorgeous details everywhere you looked (peep those cute cookies, guys!).
What made Travis and Kate’s wedding day the very best, though, was the humor and joy they had in their eyes anytime they looked at each other. They’re the definition of liking and loving someone. You can tell they genuinely enjoy each other as well as being completely enthralled with on another.
Kate and Travis, you made it one year!! Congratulations! The best is yet to come, friends!
