Brittany, Matt, and their beautiful daughters didn’t merely show up for their Rockledge Park family session, they slayed it!
Rockledge Park is one of those places that makes you feel like you aren’t in the middle of the city. After you pass the gate, you see the shore of Lake Grapevine. As you work your way further into the park, you see where this place gets its name, as the rocky coves come into view. It is literally full of rock ledges, and we made the most of that!
This outdoor-loving family are my kind of people, and they completely trusted me to hike down the trail to find a glowy spot to start their session. I felt like I was with my own kids as the girl found great sticks swords, walked on logs, scampered around rocks, and generally lived that good, wild and free life that all kids should get a taste of! They had so much fun at Rockledge Park that after our session was over, the girls wanted to stay and play more. Love that!
When I do a family session, I always make a point to spend some time getting photos of just mom and dad. Let me climb on my soapbox and tell you why it’s one of my favorite parts of every family session. Friends, it’s so important to have those pictures of just the two of you. As kids, as teenagers, as adults, our little people need the visible reminder that their parents love each other and choose each other over and over. As important as it is for our kids and grandkids to see that their family was built on love, it’s important for us, as couples, to have that visible reminder of what started it all. In the middle of the beautiful chaos of raising a family, Sean and I have found it easy to slip into being a great team and forgetting to equally focus on the love that brought us together. Our family is always stronger when we remember that our partner is the same one we fell madly in love with all those years ago. When I take photos of a married couple, it inevitably only takes a few minutes, and suddenly, they’re laughing, flirting, smiling, sneaking a kiss, and generally reveling in one another. We all need that permission to pause life and focus on each other. It makes my heart so happy to get to witness that time and time again.
Matt and Brittany were so sweet as they had their few minutes of photos together! I know their girls will always love seeing these pictures of their parents adoring one another.
Rockledge Park is the perfect place to get away for the evening, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending my evening with this fun family.
